Community Leaders to impact OUR communities
ECONOMICALLY, SOCIALLY & SPIRITUALLY

August 29-30, 2008 “Leading for Life” (12 Hours)

Facilitator: DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative

DeVos Urban Leadership is a national faith-based leadership development program for urban youth workers in Christian organizations and institutions.

Each year, approximately 60 urban youth workers from five selected U.S. cities are accepted in the 15-month training program. Participants are challenged by an intense curriculum where they learn to integrate “breakthrough leadership skills” into their personal life and ministry.

After graduating from the program, alumni are encouraged to work toward local collaborative efforts that ultimately impact the lives of urban youth in their communities.

September 26-27, 2008 “The Role of the Church in Community Development” & “Wholistic Ministry” (12 Hours)

Facilitator: CCDA/Christian Community Development Association

Within the context of inner city communities that face a variety of cultural and environmental factors impacting the health of these neighborhoods, it is imperative that new leadership be developed from among the people.

Christian Community Development promulgates eight necessary components which not only develops future leaders, but transforms our most under-resourced communities into thriving communities through the power of God, and the efforts of His people.

October 11, 2008 “Building Resiliency in Families ” (6 Hours)

Facilitator: NET Training Institute

Addiction may be defined as an unhealthy relationship with a substance and/or behavior and is characterized by disintegration of normal relationships and out of control behaviors in spite of negative consequences. Addiction Treatment is seen as a crucial event/process within the larger context of recovery which happens within the community. Recovery over time includes many positive outcomes.

Those who experience recovery must examine and reestablish their core beliefs, heal emotional wounds, learn effective life skills, develop adequate social support systems with family and friends in order to find healthy ways to meet their natural relational needs. One of the most empowering aspects of recovery is leaning how to give back to others in the community. People who work in addiction counseling and recovery support ministry are on the front lines of human problems and pain. Therefore NET Institute provides an array of products and services which support students personally in such a way that their continued recovery is enhanced while they adapt knowledge, attitudes and skills for helping others.
