Our Beliefs:
We acknowledge that expressing concern for hurting and needy people requires more than preaching and teaching. The standard of "good" we ascribe to requires ordinary people to do justice, show mercy and walk humbly with God in the context of the larger community. Lasting social change begins in the heart transformed by God.
The NET Institute shares in the conviction that the historic creeds known as The Apostles' Creed and The Nicene Creed are sufficient expressions of NTI's beliefs.
We believe that Jesus Christ came to bring the Good News, thus demonstrating special concern for the poor and needy. We acknowledge that “holiness” is best expressed through showing the world what He is like in actions that display His care for the vulnerable and oppressed of the world, the physically and emotionally needy, the shut in, the addicted and the prisoner.
Notable examples of faith in action include Francis of Assisi who distributed his worldly possessions to the poor; William and Catherine Booth, founders of the Salvation Army; and Mother Theresa who cared for the destitute and the "untouchables" of Calcutta.
Respect is the hallmark expression for all peoples. We seek to contribute to the public good in a manner that extends full freedom and equal treatment to ALL citizens of all faiths, including those who claim no faith.
A foundational principle expressing God's will is found in The Good News According to Mark 12:30,31:
- Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.
- Love your neighbor as yourself.
The NET Institute endeavors to equip and inspire a vital and skillful Army of Compassion.
