This program will equip individuals with
the fundamental knowledge and skills to enter the fields
of counseling, addiction treatment, behavioral health
work, social work activities, and recovery support
services. Students completing this diploma program
will be prepared to provide most direct care services
offered in the continuum of addiction services under
appropriate supervision in clinical programs. This
diploma will provide the knowledge and skills for leadership
in recovery support services as a stand alone program
or in conjunction with community treatment programs.
Coursework builds on the Restoration
Ministry Diploma and adds the core functions and competencies of addiction
counseling underlying effective treatment, co-occurring
disorders, drugs of abuse, treatment approaches and
ethics. |

Students will be able to:
- Identify the core functions and competencies
of the addiction field;
- Recognize the signs and
symptoms of substance abuse;
- Provide a range of
clinical counseling services under appropriate
supervision;
- Satisfy the educational requirements
for Certified Associate Addiction Professional,
Level 2, CAAP-2 based on electives.
