24-25, FADAA, Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Assoc. Annual Conference, Orlando, FL. Charles and Jean presented workshop: “Spirituality as Cultural Competence” based on world view perceptions of counselors and clients.

 

4, CSAT Meetings, Washington, DC. As a member of “Partners for Recovery” Jean attended the meeting which included participants from the mental health sector. Also met with Dr. Clark’s panel of faith based experts and consultants to strategize on the Access to Recovery nationwide.

Jean attended the meeting and also visited large support group ministry founded by a NET Institute graduate at Christ Fellowship in Palm Beach Gardens.

Developed action steps to raise the awareness of addiction as a disease within faith communities and to move toward utilizing the strengths of recovering people within congregational life. International Outreach
2006 ____________________________________
October 12-21, International Substance Abuse and Addiction Coalition Congress, Cairo, Egypt. NET Institute provided CEUs for attendees and partnered with the UK based trustees to increase cooperation by international members of the Leadership Council who come from many nations, including Egypt, Pakistan and India. NET’s representative was interviewed for CNN by Nile TV and for regional Arabic TV. The congress was attended by 168 people from 30 countries. Leaders in the substance abuse field from Russia, Estonia, Finland and Holland initiated a workgroup to launch staff development based on NET training in Northern Europe.

March 1st International Addiction Trainers Symposium, Orlando. Hosted by NTI and ISAAC, International Substance Abuse and Addiction Coalition based in the UK. Christian addiction trainers met to renew friendships, build partnerships and to strategize on extending training to meet the requests of ISAAC’s 550 members in 50 nations.

August 12-19, ISAAC, International Substance Abuse and Addiction Coalition, Redding, England. Jean met with UK based trustees to increase cooperation and board involvement by international members of the Leadership Council who come from many nations. She attended the board meeting and met with other key international consultants in the substance abuse field including colleagues from Youth with a Mission (YWAM), Egypt and India.

May 15-18, Sharm el Sheik, Egypt, on Red Sea, participate in a planning retreat as part of the Leadership Council of International Substance Abuse and Addiction Coalition (ISAAC). Council members represent both grassroots and clinical addiction organizations and include nationals from India, Tajikistan/ Nigeria, Holland, Sweden, Malaysia, UK, US, Italy and Egypt.

Cynthia Moreno Tuohy, interim executive director of NAADAC National and also executive director of the Central East ATTC will be accompanying Jean on this trip as a valued consultant and trainer.

  13-22, Cairo, Egypt Trip includes consultation with Egyptian officials regarding addiction certification, consulting and training with Freedom Foundation which runs a large residential rehabilitation center and partners with NET Institute to provide overall professional addiction education to both Muslims and Christians.

August Hamilton, Bermuda. Charles and Jean LaCour made presentations to the National Drug Commission and the Bermuda Certification Board. Our host was Sandy Butterfield of FOCUS. She established CEU training using our Wingspread Series Self Study courses for a Cluster Group of staff and program graduates seeking professional certification.

June Stockholm, Sweden and country retreat. ISAAC, International Substance Abuse and Addiction Coalition, Consultation on Training. Participated on Committee for Accreditation Standards for international ngo’s, churches and non profit ministries dealing with prevention, counseling, drug treatment, HIV/AIDS. Thirty attendees from twenty nations. Charles and Jean LaCour presented, met with the Leadership Council and videoed sessions.

February Chatel, Switzerland. Youth With a Mission. Jean taught a week on Healing Prayer to sixty French speaking missionaries, pastoral and professional counselors.

May Madrid/ El Escorial, Spain, ISAAC Second International Congress, Assisted with conference administration, NET Institute provided CEUs to attendees, Jean presented plenary session: “Loving Involvement: Faith & Acts of Service”. 250 attended from forty nations.

November Islamabad, Pakistan, Jean LaCour key note speaker and workshop leader for DAWN, Drugs and Alcohol Workers Network. Met with leaders from across the country and visited ICAN Project.
  Cairo, Egypt. Traveled from Pakistan to train at Freedom Foundation Rehabilitation Program at Wadi el Natoun where NET Institute participates in Arabic training of Muslim and Christian drug workers. Also guest speaker in several venues, made site visits to two Muslim recovery programs. Hosted by Dr. Ehab el Kharrat founder of Freedom.

Traveled across Africa to train in the desert north of Cairo at Freedom Foundation Rehabilitation Program at Wadi el Natoun where NET Institute participates in Arabic training of Muslim and Christian drug workers.
